On the way from Utah to Oregon, I decided to make a short stop in Lamoille Canyon. The canyon is located in northeast Nevada, and it features one of America’s scenic byways. I came here with no expectations, and was mostly intending to do a short hike to break up the long drive. After driving through hours of desert landscape, I was surprised to see snow-capped mountains. The canyon was beautiful glacially-carved valley with lots of streams and pine trees. It was hard to believe that I was still in Nevada.
I ended up doing some short hikes, but wasn’t able to hike as high into the mountains as I would have liked due to the large amount of snow still on the ground. It ended up being a great time and I felt like I had discovered one of America’s hidden gems.
